One missionary wife on returning to the US for furlough said she suffered sin shock. Things had changed so much that this was the only way she could describe what she saw.
When we are surrounded by something that is slowly changing we often don’t see the change. It is so gradual that we don’t notice even though it is happening all around us.
I have been told that if you put a frog in a pot of boiling water he will jump out. If you put him in cold water and slowly turn up the heat they say he will stay until he is cooked.
This is what has been happening in Baptist churches in America. They have become immersed in the world’s philosophy and methods just a little at a time. They don’t realize how far they have strayed from what they once were.
It is time that we, as Baptists, wake up and jump out of the pot before it is too late.
