Why I Believe

I am writing this book is because recent circumstances have shown me the importance of having a reason for what we believe. Faith is blind if it doesn’t have something to stand on. God defines faith as follows:
Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. (Hebrews 11:1)
Faith has two parts, and the first is “the substance of things hoped for.” Substance means to stand under (sub — under and stance — to stand firm). The things we hope for must have a basis, something that stands under them, or they are nothing but wishful thinking.
The second part of faith is “evidence of things not seen.” Evidence is something that furnishes proof. When someone says they believe something, we cannot see it unless there is some evidence to prove that they do. It is this part of faith that shows the world that we really do have faith.
It is sad that today most people base their faith upon what someone has told them. They may believe the right things, but they have never taken the time to make their beliefs their own. They believe things because their teachers told them, because their religious leaders told them, or the group they are part of says they are so. Most don’t even take the time to ask why those who teach them believe what they teach.
This book is about giving an answer to those who wonder why I believe what I believe.
But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear: (1 Peter 3:15)

About The Author

Pierre was saved at the age of 17. After high school, he entered the US Army, and in 10 years rose from the rank of private to captain. At that time the Lord dealt with him about leaving the Army. This is when God called him into the ministry. He has been a missionary, a pastor, and an evangelist. One thing that has been consistent from the very beginning is his love for an accurate interpretation and exposition of the Scriptures.
